Bland is one of the few voice AI platforms that quotes one number per minute instead of a stack of meters, which makes it easier to budget than Vapi or Retell. The catch sits in the limits and in the feature grid, not the rate. Below is the full rate card as it stands today, what changed in the last year, a worked month for a sales team making 1,000 dials a day, and where a done-for-you AI SDR comes out ahead or behind.

How much does Bland AI cost per minute?

Bland AI costs $0.14 a minute on Start and $0.12 a minute on Build, billed to the exact second on active call time. Enterprise is contracted to volume. The rate covers the language model, real-time speech to text and premium voices, which Bland sums up on its pricing page as "No token charges. No model-provider pass-throughs." Transfer time and failed dials are billed on top.

Bland's billing documentation adds three charges the pricing page does not show. Every outbound attempt on Bland's own telephony carries a $0.015 minimum, and a failed call is charged the same $0.015. Voicemail is billed as ordinary call time. SMS is $0.02 a message in either direction, and web widget replies are $0.01 a message.

What happened to the Bland AI Scale plan?

Bland's pricing page now lists only Start, Build and Enterprise. Earlier in 2026 it also showed Scale at $0.11 a minute plus $499 a month, with 100 concurrent calls and 5,000 calls a day. That tier is still printed in Bland's billing documentation, but the same page carries a banner saying the docs are being updated as users transition, so treat the pricing page as current and ask sales before you plan around Scale.

The practical effect for a growing team is a bigger jump. Build tops out at 2,000 calls a day and 50 concurrent calls. The next step used to be a $200 platform fee increase. Today it is an Enterprise conversation with no published price.

For the record, Scale was rarely the cheaper choice anyway. With a $200 higher platform fee and a one cent lower rate, it only beat Build above 20,000 connected minutes a month.

Did Bland AI raise its prices?

Yes. Until December 5, 2025 every self-serve customer paid a flat $0.09 a minute and plans differed only by limits. Bland's billing docs record the switch to plan-based rates on that date: Start went from $0.09 to $0.14 a minute, a 56 percent increase, Build to $0.12 and Scale to $0.11. Existing customers received a one-time credit covering the difference on their previous 30 days of usage. Older reviews that quote $0.09 are describing the old pricing.

Which Bland AI plan does an outbound sales team actually need?

Build, in almost every case, and the reason is the call cap rather than the rate. On paper Start and Build break even at 14,950 connected minutes a month, because Build's $299 fee is recovered at two cents a minute. In practice an outbound team never reaches that point on Start, because Start caps you at 100 calls a day. Over 20 working days that is 2,000 dials a month, which is about what one human SDR makes.

Build's limits are 2,000 calls a day and 1,000 an hour, so a team dialing a full working day is fine, but a campaign that tries to push 2,000 calls into a single morning hits the hourly ceiling first. Bland's docs are clear about what happens at a cap: calls get rejected rather than incurring charges. Plan your dialing windows around it, especially if you call across US time zones and only have a few legal hours in each.

There is also a separate Agent Phone plan at $29.99 a month in the docs, built around a single agent number with voice and SMS to the US and Canada. It is capped at 50 calls a day and one call at a time, so it suits a receptionist line rather than an outbound campaign.

What features are missing from Bland's Start and Build plans?

More than the headline rate suggests. Bland's comparison grid, read on September 24, 2026, ticks the following only in the Enterprise column: warm transfers, live transfers, the appointment scheduling node, in-call SMS, SMS and web chat, guardrails, alarms and monitoring, outcomes, custom dialing, a BAA, SSO and data residency. Start and Build get integrations, conversational pathways, automations, version lock and a 99.9 percent uptime SLA.

Two of those matter a lot for sales. The appointment scheduling node is the built-in way to put a meeting on a calendar during the call, so on Build you write that booking logic yourself against your calendar's API. And the grid lists a transfer time rate on Start and Build while ticking warm and live transfers only on Enterprise. Before you design a flow that hands hot prospects to a closer, get Bland to confirm in writing which transfer types your plan supports.

What does 1,000 dials a day cost on Bland AI?

Here is an illustrative outbound month on Build. The connect and voicemail rates below are assumptions for the example, not Bland figures, so swap in your own list's numbers.

Two costs are not in that number. The first is telephony: Bland's pricing FAQ says telephony is billed separately, on your own carrier or Bland's built-in Twilio at pass-through cost, and bringing your own Twilio removes the transfer fee but adds your carrier bill. The second, and usually the larger one in year one, is the engineering. Someone has to scrub the list against the Do Not Call registry, enforce calling hours by time zone, write the qualification logic, book the meeting and write the result back to the CRM. Those pieces also run somewhere: the webhook endpoints that let the agent check a calendar or update a record need a server that stays up, and most teams end up provisioning and deploying that server themselves.

Is Bland AI cheaper than Vapi and Retell?

On the headline, no. On the finished minute, often yes. Vapi charges $0.05 a minute for hosting and passes the model, speech and voice through at cost. Retell advertises $0.07 to $0.31 a minute, and the width of that range is almost entirely the language model you pick. Bland's own FAQ estimates typical production stacks at roughly $0.13 to $0.30 a minute on Vapi and $0.11 to $0.25 on Retell once the components are added, which is Bland's estimate, not ours.

The honest version. If you have an engineer with time, a compliance process you already trust and a steady volume above a few thousand minutes, Bland's all-in minute is hard to beat, and the single rate makes finance happy. That is why developers pick it.
